Peter Quantrill, writing in the June 2020 Gramophone at page 67, approves the “chamber-orchestra intimacy” of the performance as well as “virtuoso attention to text” by the State choir of Latvia. Below is a trailer from C Major showing small forces in a huge church, which ought to make it possible for Morell to make a good video. But it also appears that DVDitis may be a problem for this recording. And in any event, this title is up against stiff competition from Welser-Möst and the Cleveland Orchestra playing at St Florian.
