Fred Cohn, writing in the February 2022 issue of Opera News, pages 56-57, calls this “wall-to-wall buffoonery” with interesting characters, but feels the result is “unsatisfactory as it’s devoid of tenderness or other emotion other than show-business narcissism.” This suggests this title will be of interest only to specialists and die-hard Italian opera fans.
