This is bel canto melodrama: Linda, a pretty farm girl, is in love with Carlo, a starving artist (who is really a nobleman). When the lecherous landlord wants to Linda to pay the rent in bed, she flees to Paris. Many misadventures. Linda goes crazy and returns to home for a mad scene. But true Carlo awaits. She gets her mind back + a title!
Print critics saw this streamed in the middle of the covidemic. In February 2021, Stephen Hastings reported for www.operanews.org that the cast was “one of the best available.” Along with the usual bel canto grief and glee, the naughty landlord (di Boisfleury) has “some of the funniest lines in Italian opera irresistibly delivered by Fabio Capitanucci.” Also approving was Lorenzo Fiorito giving this 4 of 5 stars for bachtrack.com. So this appears to be more buried bel canto treasure from Dynamic.
