Soloists are Johanna Winkel (soprano), Sophie Harmsen (alto), Sebastian Kohlhepp (tenor), and Arttu Kataja (bass). Also includes the hour-long documentary Von Herzen - Möge es Wieder - Zu Herzen Gehn! (From the Heart - May it Go - To the Heart!) by Uli Aumüller about the preparation for the performance. Our first inclination was to exclude this this because (1) it’s a documentary of the sort that usually disappoints us, (2) it’s too short at only 71 minutes, and (3) it’s in stereo only. But the beautiful Naxos trailer below convinced us to make an exception. Peter Quantrill gives this an approving shout-out in the December 2020 Gramophone at page 114 where he states that “exploring the score . . . with Bernius affords almost as many insights as [a] performance.”
