Mike Ashmore in the July 2013 Gramophone at pages 88-89 say Opolais as Tatyana "is the stuff of dreams musically and acting-wise", but otherwise that the production "as filmed here is not in great shape either musically or dramatically." In particular, the director introduces a (mute, I take it) character of the aged Onegin who hovers around constantly trying to be profound; but who is, Ashmore finds, mostly distracting.
